Process Improvement Through Technology!             2/28/2006 - Two Critical Access Hospitals Implement: FormsLink. King's Daughters Hospital Yazoo City and Jefferson Davis Community Hospital, both Mississippi Critical Access hospitals recently implemented the HealthLink Solutions suite of software to streamline their admission process.  Both Hospitals are using FormsLink to print an admission packet with all the necessary admission documents based on the admitting service. These packets are the hospital's own admission forms printed from "plain white paper" with the patient data already printing in the designated "blue card" space. The system also prints a water proof wristband and a sheet of 20 or 30 labels for use in labeling daily forms at the nurse's stations. By using FormsLink both hospitals have been able to eliminate their costly and inefficient embosser system, while also cutting their cost of preprinted forms by about 70%. One hospital was quoted as saying, "when you go from buying 17 cent forms to printing them yourself for less than half a cent the savings are obvious!" FormsLink also prints bar-coded information on the forms such as, the patient's Medical Record Number, Account Number and the Form Number; This helps save the hospital time and money when it comes to scanning these forms into a back office imaging system. Stefanie Reynolds said, "the biggest improvement I saw was workflow, there is no more embosser down time and no more forms to stamp!"
